Visit of the Dominican Family from the Province of the Assumption

Visit of the Dominican Family from the Province of the Assumption

From April 7 to 10, we had the privilege of welcoming a group of 24 brothers and sisters from the Dominican Family of the Province of the Assumption—which includes Australia, New Zealand, the Solomon Islands, and Papua New Guinea—to the Santo Domingo Spirituality House in Caleruega.

Their time at our house was the longest stop on their pilgrimage itinerary through shrines and emblematic places of faith in Portugal, Spain, and France. Their stay with us was a true gift for the community, filled with moments of fellowship, prayer, and reflection.

The group, led by the Prior Provincial, Fr. Dominic Murphy, OP, actively participated in liturgical celebrations and formation sessions focused on the charism and mission of the Order of Preachers, taking full advantage of the spiritual and historical corners of the Caleruega monastic complex. In addition to the fraternal and participatory atmosphere, the good weather accompanied the entire visit, allowing them to enjoy both the indoor spaces and the surrounding landscapes of this place so rich in history and spirituality. They also visited nearby sites of great cultural and religious significance such as Burgo de Osma, Gumiel de Izán, Santo Domingo de Silos, and the city of Burgos.

We are deeply grateful for their presence, which was a source of joy, inspiration, and fraternity. We feel profoundly enriched by getting to know their Dominican life experience up close—coming from lands so far away, yet united by the same spirit of preaching and service.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful stage of your pilgrimage with us!
